Examining the Pull of Group Masturbation Parties | VICE United States
A very good article on the phenomenon of JO clubs, with some nice perspective from an enthusiast in Australia. Unfortunately, this article does propagate the myth that HIV was responsible for JO clubs:
“… Group masturbation clubs emerged in the 1980s, when public fear of AIDS was in overdrive. They were conceived as environments where men could meet up to manually gratify one another without running the risks associated with penetrative sex…”
NY Jacks and the LA Handjob Fraternity both arose in 1980 prior to the appearance of HIV. The JO club has its roots in desire, not fear. I think it’s an important distinction but other than that, this is an excellent article.
